Welcome back to another exciting school year! My name is Veronica Schmidt, and I am a Homer Community School alumni. I attended Wayne State College where I earned my Elementary Education Degree. In May 2019, I received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through WSC as well. I am currently taking classes to obtain my School Counseling Degree at Chadron State University. Before coming to Homer, I taught at Wakefield Community School as the 4th – 6th grade writing teacher for four years. This will be my sixth year here in this district. I have been married to my husband, Jeff, for 23 years. We have two amazing children – Brent and Brooklynn. Brent is attending Purdue for IT Management, and Brookynn is attending UNO to become a neuropsychologist. I am both anxious and excited to see what both of their futures hold! When time allows, I love going on walks with Baylee (dog), reading, and simply hanging out with friends and family. Although I have loved my time in the classroom, I am thrilled to transition from that role to the K - 5 school counselor position this year. I am ready to embrace this passion of mine and look forward to supporting our Homer families this year!
